The mild climate of Madeira and Porto Santo Islands is ideal for the practice of all kinds of sports, leisure and outdoors activities, at any time of the year. Since many years, Madeira is a popular destination for walkers all over Europe.
We also organize Levada Walks (please look at" book activities").
There is a lot of possibilitys to go for a walk on Madeira. You can walk allong a garden, a park, climbing or on the levadas.
Levadas are the vast network of open-air water canals that cover the island, bringing water from the mountains to the plantations below. These irrigation channels pass through breathtaking scenery, waterfalls and hidden parts of the island.
Some of this footpaths are large, and some of them not, so that ones is better to do if you are not afraid of heights. We advice you to buy a book about levadas, or to do them with a guide, so that you get all information that you need about them, avoiding that way that you get a bad surprise.
